Inspired by Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline and Hank Williams, the Last Call Girls perform old time favorites mixed with original songs by nationally acclaimed songwriter, Nancy McCallion. This Saturday, the high energy, honky-tonkin’ country dance band will perform at Marana’s A Concert in Your Backyard starting at 7 p.m.

The band plays a mix of rock-a-billy, traditional country and bluegrass, taking their music back to the roots of country music.

The Girls are fronted by Lisa and Nancy McCallion. Singing together since they were teenagers, their voices blend naturally in harmony, yet both are distinctive solo singers, lending variety to the material the band performs.

The McCallions are joined by fiddler and guitarist Tom Rhodes, and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Schramm, from the internationally touring act The Mollys, along with Michael Joyal on drums.

Marana concert attendees can also enjoy delicious food while listening to the music, with free admission to all the concerts in the series.

Remaining acts this season are The Grind, playing covers of rock and country hits on Sept. 10, and singer Heather O’Day, performing jazz standards on Oct. 8.

“A Concert in Your Backyard music series really initiated the partnership between the Town of Marana and SAACA,” said SAACA Executive Director Kate Marquez. “This collaboration has grown ever since because of both Marana and SAACA’s commitment to community-building and providing cultural events to all Southern Arizonans.”
