An annual July and August summer concert series is being presented by St. Philip's Friends of Music.

The July offering, entitled "A Weekend in the Country — A Potpourri of French Trio d'Anches Music," features works by 19th- and 20th-century composers Pierné, Sauguet, Dubois and Ibert. The Bella Carita Trio d'Anches (trio of reed instruments) is made up of noted Tucson musicians Cindy Behmer, oboe; Kevin Justus, clarinet; and Cassandra Bendickson, bassoon. They perform this Friday, July 31, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bloom Music Center.

The August offering is a reprise of last summer's popular "Show Stoppers" concert, featuring renowned local vocalists Mary Paul, soprano, and Larry Alexander, baritone, with Bonnie Bird at the keyboard, presenting favorite arias and duets from operas, operettas, and musicals.

"This is lighthearted fun for a hot summer afternoon — come enjoy all of your favorites, performed by this talented and engaging couple," a release said. The concert is Sunday, Aug. 16, at 3 p.m. in the church.

Admission to each concert is by donation to St. Philip's Friends of Music. Friends of Music provides support to the music program at St. Philip's, through sponsoring concerts, special Sunday music, scholarships, and community outreach programs.

St. Philip's is located at 4440 N. Campbell Avenue at River Road. Ample parking is available in the north parking lot.
