A colorful way to stay cool for free is available this Saturday and Sunday, July 31 and Aug. 1, when the next summer art market unfolds at Tucson Mall.

Original art in a variety of media is available for viewing and buying at the 4500 N. Oracle Rd. location. Dozens of artists show their work on the mall's upper- and lower-level corridors.

Summer art markets are free. They run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Children's activities are free as well, and there is often musical entertainment.

Summer art markets are presented by the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance and General Growth Properties. Festivals are held on the last Saturday and Sunday of the month through August.

"Our partnership with General Growth Properties/Tucson Mall allows us to offer a quality arts experience to area residents," said SAACA executive director Kate Marquez. "Artists will have a comfortable, well-traveled venue in which to display their work, an opportunity not previously available to them during the summer months."

"SAACA's extensive network of artists and performers can help further enrich the overall experience people have when visiting Tucson Mall," said Jim Heilmann, GGP senior general manager. "SAACA brings a certain business savvy to this relationship and understands how best to integrate its arts focus into the mall setting."
