Tucson Dance Foundation is offering two free master classes in dance with teacher and choreographer Alberto Muñóz Esparza on July 9 at Pima Community College West, 2202 W. Anklam Road.

TDF is a local nonprofit organization that strives to provide all Tucson area youth with an enriched arts educational experience through the study and performance of the art of dance, including music and theater.

The organization is funding the cost of this class and travel expense for Muñóz, who hails from Madrid, Spain. The two 90-minute sessions – one for ages 8-12 and the other for ages 12 and older – are open to all Tucson dancers, conservatories and studios. Each class is limited in size to 30 students.

PCC West is partnering with TDF by offering the use of its new “state-of-the-art” dance studios in the Santa Rita Building, room AG49.

Esparza began dancing at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza in Murcia, Spain. In 1995, he was awarded a scholarship to the world-renowned Carmina Ocaña School of Ballet in Madrid, and later honed his skills at Steps in New York City. He has danced professionally with Ballet Clásico Mediterráneo, Connecticut Ballet, Ontario Ballet, Richmond Ballet, Dayton Ballet and Centro Coreográfico de Valencia. He has taught and set choreography on professional and pre-professional dance companies throughout North America and Europe.

For more information, class times or to sign up, call 744-9730. Registration will take place a half-hour before the start of each class.
