The next installment of the long-running family performance series Musical Magic for Kids takes place this Saturday, Feb. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oro Valley Music and Dance Academy, 7954 N. Oracle Road.

Admission to the event is free.

Saturday's event, presented by the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance, is titled "The International Adventures of Aunt Rhody and Uncle Bob," featuring the string trio of Catherine Simmons, Jose Reyes and Garrick Woods.

Aunt Rhody and Uncle Bob take a global tour, encountering music from Mexico, Brazil, Egypt, China, Scotland, Vienna, the North Pole and a Texas ranch. Young travelers can dress in the costume of their favorite location and play along on simple rhythm instruments.

SAACA produces the Musical Magic for Kids series with support from the Town of Oro Valley.

One other event is scheduled for 2010. It's the April 3 "Moving Body in Rhythm," featuring percussion and dance by Claire Hancock and Drew Andreatta. Djembes, congas, bells, shakers and more will make you "move it, move it." Through world rhythms, participants can discover the dynamic relationship of dance and percussion.

All events take place at the Oro Valley Music and Dance Academy at 10:30 a.m., and are free to the public. For more information, call SAACA at 797-3959, or go online to">
