Peyton Rudd has a rare brain stem tumor.
The seven-year-old Marana girl receives not only chemotherapy but also a variety of complementary and alternative, nutritionally based treatments, because traditional medicine does not, by itself, hold the answer.
On Friday, June 20, merchants at St. Philip’s Plaza will join together to raise money for Peyton’s Courage Fund, an account established to help the Rudd family with the expense of medical treatments not covered by insurance.
Stems a Shoe Boutique and AK Jensen Apparel will charge a $25 entry fee that day, and shoppers will receive 40 percent off their purchases in those stores. Acacia Restaurant will offer free appetizers, and 10 percent of drink costs also will go into the fund.
A raffle will include six pairs of shoes, several items of clothing and three $75 gift cards for Acacia Restaurant. The cost of raffle tickets — which also will go directly to the Rudd family — is $5 each or five for $20.
