If you want a taste of the Old Country — fine cheese, olive oil and spirits from a well-stocked wine cellar — you can find it right at home. And you don’t even have to be Italian.

The Northwest offers a wide selection of Italian restaurants, which feature stone ovens, Mediterranean arches and, in at least one case, antique pots that have been in the owners’ family for generations.

Whether you favor Northern Italian cuisine with cream, Mascarpone cheese and fresh egg pasta or Southern fare with buffalo cheese, dried pasta and ample tomatoes, it’s available north of River Road.
