Free immunizations, $20 school sports physicals, screenings for insurance coverage and a wealth of information are available at the eighth annual Marana Care Fair, set for Saturday, May 30, from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Marana Middle School, 11279 W. Grier Rd. in Marana.

The Marana Health Center hosts the fair in collaboration with the Marana Unified School District. It is a non-profit event conducted by volunteers to provide families in the Marana area and throughout Pima County "with important health information and services," a release said.

Free immunizations are offered for students in grades K-12. Immunization records are required, a release said.

School sports physicals for students in grades 7-12 are $20. Cash is required. Students should wear shorts and tank tops.

Immunization services are provided by Vaccines For Children Clinic, with physicals by Marana Health Center.

Eligibility screening is offered for the AHCCCS and KidsCare insurance programs.

Students and families can learn about health insurance, fire prevention, finger printing and child emergency preparedness, child safety, medical topics and sports programs. In addition, children's activities include a jumping castle, a clown, pony rides, food booths and more.

Last year's event was attended by more than 2,500 individuals; 455 vaccines were administered, 205 student sports physicals were provided and 49 dental screenings were conducted.

Local businesses and community members who would like to support the Care Fair by hosting a booth or providing a donation may contact Christina Noriega at 579-4920.
