Expressions through art will stretch to all areas of community this summer, as the Crossover Southern Arizona Week delivers free concerts, films and festivals in all areas of Tucson and beyond.

The Southern Arizona Mission Board has partnered with Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance to create a week long series of events, connecting people through the power of art.

The Crossover Southern Arizona Week is a series of community-based events, all featuring the artists and art that has established the region as a premiere creative cultural community. Each event is sponsored by local Southern Arizona churches in partnership with the Catalina Baptist Association.

The summer events will touch many communities and reach into the corners of greater Tucson, through art-inspired activities, presenting a variety of medium, genre and culture.

With free admission for all events, the Crossover Southern Arizonan Week will offer all ages a chance to discover new aspects of their community and connect through the arts.

Dine Out

The fun begins June 4-5 with a family night out featuring local restaurant dining specials around Tucson. Restaurants will become a part of bringing family and friends together by offering deals for meals all weekend.

Participating restaurants include Texas Roadhouse, Peter Piper Pizza, Mama’s Famous Pizza and Heros, Chick-fil-A, Create Café and Catering Co. and nearly all of the Tucson Originals Restaurants.

Live music at Riverfront Park

New to Tucson, the husband and wife team Mark and Arlette Willis will perform live jazz on Tuesday, June 7 at 7 p.m. at Cañada del Oro Riverfront Park, 551 W. Lambert Lane, in Oro Valley. ForTheLuvvsMusic features soprano Arlette and pianist Mark (who also plays harmonica). The two have been performing for hundreds of clients since high school in 1978. They studied voice under Brazeal Dennard in Detroit and have traveled across the United States, with invitations to Japan and Russia.

This experienced couple performs beautiful, flawless moments to fondly remember.
