'Park After Dark' Friday at Tohono Chul
Tohono Chul Park holds its annual Park After Dark event this Friday, Oct. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Cost is $5 for adults. The event is free to members and children 12 and under.
This year, Tohono Chul Park plans to celebrate the folklore and artistry of the Day of the Dead – El Dia de los Muertos.
Audiences can tap their toes to the rhythmic beats of the Dambe Drummers and the fiery synergy of Flam Chen, a release said.
Zarco Guerrero, mask maker and performer, celebrates the ancient holiday with his exotic masked characters and unique and often hilarious style of storytelling, it continued.
Guests can wander the luminaria-lit trails in search of ghost stories and live nocturnal animals.
The event is in conjunction with the Day of the Dead exhibition at the park, and visi¬tors are welcome to leave altar offerings that evening to their dearly departed. A community altar will grow throughout the night, where all are encouraged to add mementos and memorial cards. Tohono Chul Park will provide complimentary refreshments.
The park is located on Paseo del Norte, one block west of the intersection of Ina and Oracle roads.
Munger speaks at OV GOP luncheon Nov. 13
Republican gubernatorial candidate John Munger is speaking to the Oro Valley Republican Women's Club on Friday, Nov. 13.
The club gathers at the Oro Valley Country Club, 300 W. Greenock. A social hour begins at 11:30 a.m., with lunch at noon.
