Showbiz Kidz Danz and its booster club are putting on a holiday dance show to raise funds for national competitions this Thursday, Dec. 17.

The event begins at 7 p.m. at Marana High School. Tickets are $5 each or $7 at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the opportunity to visit the arts and crafts boutique and bake sale put on by the Showbiz Kidz Booster Club.

Many dance groups are participating Thursday, including the Marana High School Dance Team, Ironwood Ridge High School Dance Team, Tucson High Red Hots, Creative Dance Arts and Showbiz Kidz Danz. Performances include holiday and non-holiday dance pieces, jazz, ballet, lyrical, hip-hop and pom.

Showbiz Kidz Danz is a locally owned and operated dance studio at Ina and Camino Martin. It was originally a small studio inspired by owner Jennifer Barton's daughter, who loves dance. It began in the cafeteria of a local elementary school; today, there is a full-blown studio with more than 200 dancers and 15 nationally recognized dance teams. Dancers range in age from 6 to 25.

This year's national competition is in Anaheim, Calif., this April.
