Harvesting Water, a workshop on how to capture rainwater and use gray water, is being held Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Metro Water District office.

Information is presented by the Water Conservation Alliance of Southern Arizona. RSVP is required, with seating limited to 40 people. The fee is $5. RSVPs are accepted at 575-8100.

Harvesting Water shows people how to use two valuable sources, rainfall and household "gray" water. People can learn how to magnify Southern Arizona's small rainfall "into a large supply for your landscape or garden," a release said.

As for graywater, "rather than sending it down the drain, you will find out how graywater can be put to use in your yard to save you water and money."

Metro Water is offering $50 rebates to its customers who install rain harvesting or gray water systems, or who install high-efficiency toilets. Applications are available at Metro's office at La Cañada and Orange Grove, or online at www.metrowater.com.

Call 575-8100 for more information.
