A Veterans Day commemoration is taking place this Thursday, Nov. 11, at the Sunflower Community Center in Marana.

The Sunflower Veterans Club — which has 125 members — conducts the event "to commemorate our deceased members, and deceased veterans everywhere," a release said.

The remembrance runs from 9:30 to 10:30 Thursday at the community center's American flagpole, located off Twin Peaks between Silverbell and Coachline.

Following opening remarks, the Sunflower Chorale sings "The Star-Spangled Banner." George Gasdaska offers a Veterans Day prayer.

The names of deceased Sunflower veterans are being read by representatives of each branch of the military service.

The chorale sings patriotic songs. Taps concludes the service.
