A family-owned recycling business named Can-It is planning to open at 16201 N. Oracle in Catalina.

There's already a Can-It recycling business near downtown Tucson, and the company is expanding northward.

"We are waiting for Pima County to approve and sign-off on the blueprints," said co-owner Linda Cook. "We see this area as a good place to expand our business. We will take metals like copper, brass, steel, aluminum and even clear plastic bottles. We won't take vehicles, cardboard and building materials."

When it opens, Can-It will weigh the recyclable materials and pay the "going rate." Presently, aluminum is worth 52 cents a pound and copper tubing is worth $1.95 a pound, according to Cook.
