Chicago-style blues, R&B and a dash of funk will jam the Foothills Mall with soulful music on Tuesday, June 7 at 6 p.m.
First conceived in 2007, the band The Railbirdz lays out grooves that move people and give listeners a variety of styles.
Through various iterations of “The Birdz,” founder B.C. Bird remained undeterred and scoured the musical countryside in Tucson looking for the right mix of talent and personalities. First, he found Marty Bird toiling away with one garage band after another, looking for a band that would let him rip on the guitar and that could keep up with him. Next they found Frank Bird, a sax player bouncing from band to band looking for the groove. The newest member of the Railbirdz, bass player Dave Bird, quickly locked in, and together they provide the rhythmic foundation of the band.
Tying it all together with his soulful lead vocals, tasty guitar leads, and filling in the gaps on keyboard, B.C. Bird is the leader of the pack.
The Railbirdz music will fly through the Foothills Mall, giving shoppers some musical entertainment as part of the ongoing Foothills Mall Music and Art Series.
