Official days to fly the flag in May are:  Mothers’ Day, Sunday, May 11, Thursday, May 15, Peace Officers Memorial Day (1/2 staff), Saturday, May 17, Armed Forces Day and on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, (1/2 staff until noon).

May dates of interest:  

V-E Day (69th anniversary) – Thursday, May 8

Founding Of Jamestown (407th anniversary) – May 14.

The 41st Memorial Day Ceremony will be on Monday, May 26.  The Ceremony will start at 9 a.m.  Come early to get a good seat.  For more information, contact Valerie H. Davis, chairperson of the Memorial Day Parade Committee, at 908-0774, or email

The AMVETS Post and Clubroom are open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. or earlier/later (bartender’s discretion) Monday thru Saturday.  On Sundays when breakfast is served the Post and Clubroom open at 9 a.m.  Happy Hour is Monday to Friday 11 noon and 3 to 5:p.m.  Be sure to check the bulletin board on the front of the Post for the weekly menu and activities.

The AMVETS Post meets the first Sunday of each month at 10 a.m. The May meeting is on Sunday, May 4.  

The Ladies Auxiliary meets the second Sunday of each month at 9:30 a.m. (September through May).  Their May meeting is on Sunday, May 11.  

The Sons Of AMVETS meets at 6 p.m. the Monday following the Post’s monthly meeting.  Their May meeting is on May 5.  The AMVETS Post 770 Riders Club meets the second Saturday of each month at 9 a.m.  

In May, their meeting will be on Saturday, May 10.
