Investment, home-buying and financial instruction are part of an ongoing series of free Saturday seminars offered by HFCU Financial Services, a division of Hughes Federal Credit Union.

“College Savings” is the topic for guests on Saturday, Aug. 30. The seminar educates families “about the importance of personal accumulation as a college funding source.”

“Take the Wheel – Know how to get the best car deal before you start shopping” is the Saturday, Sept. 13 subject. That seminar is intended for people thinking about buying a vehicle. The credit union “wants to help you save time and money, and walk away with a good deal.”

“Life as a Homeowner” is targeted for Saturday, Sept. 27. Participants can learn about maintaining a household budget, debt management, home safety and basic maintenance, energy and utility savings, understanding the financial benefits of homeownership, and resources for remodeling and home improvement.

All seminars are held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the Hughes Federal Credit Union Wetmore Branch education room, 971 W. Wetmore Road in Tucson. People should register at least two days prior to each seminar at, or by calling 794-8341 or 800-253-8245.
