Northwest Medical Center’s new chief executive officer is former Tucson resident Kevin Stockton. Stockton returned to his hometown to take over the helm of the 300-bed hospital on March 14. He is responsible for the operations and strategic management of the facility and off-campus locations, including urgent care offices and ambulatory surgery centers.

As a graduate of the University of Arizona with a master’s degree in business and public administration, with a focus on healthcare administration, Stockton’s roots are in Tucson.

“My wife Leslie, our two small children and I are thrilled to be returning to our hometown. I was especially excited about joining the team at Northwest Medical Center, where the daily focus on quality, service and patient safety matches my own personal standards,” he said earlier this year.

Stockton has held a variety of leadership positions in hospital administration for more than 14 years. Prior to his return to southern Arizona, he was the CEO of Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas, a 404-bed academic center.  His background includes strategic planning, physician recruitment and relations, commitment to employee satisfaction and a dedication to providing high-quality, safe patient care.

NMC Chief of Staff Todd Locher, M.D., said he looked “forward to Kevin’s energy and collaborative work with the medical staff to ensure Norwest Medical Center continues to grow and serve our community with outstanding patient care.”

John Carhuff, NMC Board of Trustees Chairman agreed.

“We are confident he will be a strong leader for Northwest and its employees as we look to our future,” Carhuff says.

The hospital needs help badly. Let's hope he can straighten things up.
