Bank wants you to go loco for local business

Canyon Community Bank is holding its annual Going Loco for Local Business event this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of its branch at 6811 N. Thornydale Road.

More than 30 Northwest Tucson vendors, ranging from restaurants and markets to electronics and lifestyles, are expected to participate in the free event.

Shopping local helps to create jobs, give back to the community, stimulates local economy and creates tax revenue, according to a press release from the bank.

Chamber golf tourney now accepting registrations

Golfers can now register for the annual Marana Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament and Fundraiser scheduled for Friday, Sept. 16, at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Dove Mountain.

Registration is $150 per golfer or $550 per foursome. Golfers or sponsors interested in participating should visit, call 682-4314 or email

The day of the tournament begins with the check-in and range opening at 6:30 a.m. Tournament play begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Refreshments, lunch and the prize presentation will follow. Raffle prizes and silent auction items include a resort stay, golf foursomes and gift cards.

Now in its 10th year, the tournament benefits Arizona National Guard Family Readiness Program.
