The Greater Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce presents its annual Steve Engle Memorial Scholarships to deserving students at a breakfast Thursday, May 30, at the Oro Valley Country Club.

The event starts at 7:15 a.m. at the club, 300 W. Greenock in Oro Valley. Tickets are $20; people may call the chamber office at 297-2191, or email alex@orovalleychamber.

“Giving scholarship funds to these young people is one of the best things our chamber does every year,” said President/CEO Dave Perry. “Our members should feel proud that they help kids pursue their education dreams.”

The awards are named for E.S. “Steve” Engle, an Oro Valley founding father. Engle served as Oro Valley mayor from 1978 to 1990. Until his death in 1990, Mayor Engle gave scholarships from his own pocket to needy students.
