Houses are selling, asserts Linda Moore, branch manager for the Long Companies’ River and Campbell office.

“They have to be priced competitively, and they have to be in pristine condition,” she said.

“Depersonalization” of a home — “creating more of a blank slate so people can go in and envision their lifestyle, the things they like, in that space” — is key to a relatively quick sale, Moore believes. Family pictures won’t help sell a home.

Sellers should make sure they “price their home competitively,” said Rosey Koberlein, chief executive officer of the Long Companies. If a house is priced too high, it is “sitting on the market helping your neighbor sell their home,” she said.

“The housing market, at the end of the day, still comes down to emotion,” Koberlein emphasized.
