Community Philanthropist Nominations Sought
The Southern Arizona Chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals is accepting nominations for the 2010 Outstanding Philanthropy Awards.
The annual awards program recognizes outstanding achievement by individual, foundation, and corporate philanthropists, fundraising volunteers, youth volunteers and professional fundraisers.
The five major awards will be presented at the organization's 22nd annual National Philanthropy Day Awards luncheon at the Westin La Paloma on November 19.

Award categories include corporate or foundation philanthropist, philanthropist of the year, volunteer fundraiser, youth philanthropist and fundraising professional.
Shipley Chiropractic adds staff
One chiropractor and two massage therapists have been added to the staff at Shipley Chiropractic Clinic.
Added were chiropractor Gary Green, D.C., and licensed massage therapists Amber Jones and Martha Burns.
Shipley Chiropractic is at 2292 W Magee Rd., Suite 170.
Alan's Shoes opens third local store
Alan and Annette Miklofsky, owners of Alan's Shoe House locations on Speedway and Oracle, have opened a third Tucson location at the Plaza at Williams Center, 5420 E. Broadway.
The Miklofskys previously operated the new store as Alan's Shoes from 1987 until its sale to a national chain in 1999. The store was recently reaquired from the national chain.
The couple opened their first store at the corner of Orange Grove and Oracle more than 27 years ago. In addition to Alan's Shoe House, they own two New Balance stores as well as a Birkenstock concept shop in the Tucson area.
Now, the combined operations under these varied nameplates makes Alan's Shoe House the largest independent premium comfort shoe retailer in Southern Arizona.
Alive Fitness to hold grand opening
Alive Fitness and Training Center, formerly known as 123fit, will hold its grand opening on June 4 and 5.
The business, located at 10370 N. La Cañada Dr., Suite 170 in Oro Valley, will start with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on June 4 and continue the celebration the following day with free class demonstrations, a weight loss seminar, annual membership giveaways and other raffles. Refreshments will be served.
Alive Fitness offers an array of classes including yoga, Pilates, Zumba, boot camps, cross training and indoor cycling, among others.
Co-owners of Alive Fitness are Paula Renfro and Paul Emmert.
"We saw a need in local area health club offerings, so we've designed our business to focus on highly customized programs to help clients optimize their health," said Renfro, a 10-year veteran in health club, wellness and exercise industries.

Beyond Bread Open NW store
Beyond Bread will be opening its third store this fall on the corner of Oracle and Ina roads.
Owned by Shelby and Randie Collier, Beyond Bread was first opened on North Campbell Avenue in 1998. In 2002, the second store was opened at 6260 E. Speedway and Monterey Village, and in July 2003 the original store relocated to 2036 N. Campbell Ave.
The stores specialize in freshly baked breads and sandwiches and have expanded to pastries and off-site catering.
