Meet Me at Boston's, a free, weekly run and walk tailored after the Meet Me at Maynard's event in downtown Tucson, is being unveiled Wednesday, April 28, at Boston's The Gourmet Pizza restaurant in Marana's Arizona Pavilions.
Dave and Michele Hill, Marana residents since 2002, plan to make Meet Me at Boston's a Wednesday weekly event.
They're encouraging residents to "get out and support the community, meet and greet other residents while taking steps needed to become fitter," said Michele Hill, who is community relations director for Boston's. "Lastly, MMB will just be a bunch of fun."
The route is approximately three miles, starting at Boston's in the Arizona Pavilions development, crossing the Santa Cruz River on Cortaro, then returning along the river path and around the new Crossroads Park. Shorter routes are available.
The walk will start at 6 p.m. each Wednesday, the run at 6:15. First-timers may register beforehand; waivers are required.
Those who make it eight times get an MMB t-shirt, those at 10 times are listed as MMB Athletes, and those with 15 get a hat. They can also earn discounts at Boston's and at Nana's Kitchen.
The Hills are "avid and competitive runners" who enjoy Marana's open spaces. They helped form the Tucson Grinders, a runners organization that can count as many as 50 at full strength.
Boston's is owned by Marnie Fredericks-Spence and Marlene Egeland.
