A sports grill has opened in the former Chuy’s, located at 6453 N. Oracle Road, the corner of Orange Grove and Oracle roads.
Game On Sports Grille is owned and operated by local residents Jay and Kim Thorpe.
“We are excited to be a part of the Tucson restaurant scene,” the Thorpes said. “Despite the economy, Tucson residents are always in search of an eating establishment that is locally owned and features casual food and beverages at reasonable prices.”
The place has been remodeled, and has 18 large-screen liquid crystal display televisions, and 19-inch TVs in each booth.
Chef Eric Sutter, formerly employed by chef and TV personality Emeril Lagasse, has joined the staff. Sutter helped Lagasse open restaurants in Las Vegas and South Miami Beach. “Eric is a consummate professional and is committed to excellent customer service,” the release said.
The Thorpes venture to create “a very special, friendly and Cheers-type environment,” they said. “Our Tucson customers deserve nothing less.”
Game On Sports Grille is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, with later closings on Friday and Saturday nights. Happy hours run daily from 3 to 7 p.m.
The Thorpes may be reached at 797-1233.
