The mountains and native scenery are major reasons the Arizona Distance Classic has made it 10 years in Oro Valley.

Presented By Northwest Medical Center, The Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Sunday, March 23.

The event features the Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon (13.1 miles), quarter marathon (6.55 miles), Splendido 5K (3.1 miles) and the Splendido Super Mile (1-mile walk).

Race day schedule of events

All events will start at Ventana Medical Systems Inc., 1900 Innovation Park Drive, in Oro Valley.

6:55 a.m. – Half Marathon Wheelchair

7 a.m. – Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon and Quarter Marathon

7:15 a.m. – Splendido 5K Run/Walk

10 a.m. – Kids Fun Run

10:30 a.m. – Splendido Super Mile (One-Mile Walk)

Registration

Registration for all events remains opened. In-person registration will be held during Packet Pick Up hours on Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22 at All About Running and Walking.

Registration fees are: Half Marathon $85; Quarter Marathon $65; Splendido 5K $45; Splendido Super Mile $10.

Kids Fun Run registration will be open on race day for $10.

Packet Pick Up

Race packets and technical shirts can be picked up at All About Running and Walking, 12162 N. Rancho Vistoso Blvd. on Friday, March 21, between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 22, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be limited packets from 5 to 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 23 at Ventana Medical Systems.

Road Closures

The following roads will be impacted on Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23 during preparation and running of the race.

Starting from the intersections of East Innovation Park north of Tangerine Road.

Westbound E. Rancho Vistoso Blvd., as well as Moore Road and La Cañada Drive.

Roads may be closed or have delays beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday and between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Kids Fun Run

The Town of Oro Valley Recreation and Parks will host a Kids Fun Run. The cost is $5 in advance, or $10 on race day. The run starts at 10 a.m. at Ventana Medical Systems.
