Effective Oct. 15, Heritage Highlands (HH) will have a new identity - The Highlands at Dove Mountain.  The decision to change the name reflects more accurately this premier active adult community’s residents varied lifestyles and interests.

“The name Heritage Highlands did not describe the makeup of this vibrant community, the people who live here and our location.  It was the name the developer, US Home, chose,” said Loretta Jankowski, the resident marketing team member who did the research on changing the name.  “Now that the developer is no longer involved we wanted to create our own identity and highlight our location at Dove Mountain.  When the community began, Dove Mountain was in the early planning phase, no Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, which hosts the Accenture Match Play golf tournament, and no Gallery Golf Club.  Times have changed and Dove Mountain now has its own identity,” she added.

Tom Rowley, president of the HOA Board and HOA General Manager Jeff Ziegler agreed with the assessment and so did the residents.  A resident vote on the name change passed overwhelmingly.  Rowley stated that, “The HOA Marketing Team presented good rationale for this change.  We took it to the residents and the enthusiastic response sealed the deal.”  Jeff Ziegler has already started to implement the changes.  “Our signage has been changed at our main entrance and at our clubhouse entrance.  We are working on changing our name everywhere and will have a complete transition by Oct. 15 of this year.”

The new website will be www.TheHighlandsAtDoveMountain.com.

A total of 1,297 homes set amid a championship 18-hole golf course and many other amenities are a draw for people looking for an active and involved lifestyle.  Many residents still work full or part-time.  The clubhouse was totally renovated and a new state-of the-art fitness center developed in 2006 – 2007.  The pool and spa were renovated in 2011 and feature the new saline system that has become the norm for pools and the four tennis courts were resurfaced this summer for improved resident use.  The Arthur Hills-designed golf course is considered one of the best in southern Arizona and includes a driving range and putting area.  Full-time golf professionals oversee the golf operation, give private lessons and group clinics, oversee the various golf associations and special events, and manage the resident owned-golf shop.  The course uses reclaimed water and this summer the entire irrigation system was upgraded for the highest watering efficiency.

In addition to the golf and tennis activities offered, fitness classes and instruction are also offered on a daily basis, from aerobics to zumba; bridge and various other group games, book groups, special event and holiday celebrations, cultural trips and guest speakers, and volunteer opportunities abound.  The setting of the clubhouse with its large ballroom lends itself to many weddings and other celebratory events throughout the year.  The Highlands at Dove Mountain provides continuing education classes as the Marana campus for the University of Arizona’s OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute”) program.
