On Saturday around 4:19 p.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a collision on Picture Rocks Road involving a motorcyclist. Upon arrival, deputies found the motorcyclist down in the 8400 block of West Picture Rocks Road.

Investigators of the Sheriff’s Traffic Unit responded and determined that the male motorcyclist, identified as 62-year-old James Gene Moschini, was travelling eastbound on Picture Rocks Road when he came upon a rise that is also a right hand turn. He locked his back brake, lost control of his motorcycle and crossed the center line. He separated from his motorcycle and was struck by a westbound SUV.

Mr. Moschini was airlifted to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Currently neither speed nor impairment are considered factors in this incident. The investigation by the Sheriff’s Traffic Unit continues.
