Safeway Inc. announced today that it is donating food, beverages and other supplies to help people affected by the sweeping fires in Yarnell, Arizona. In addition, Safeway is providing food and water for firefighters battling the wildfires.

Within hours of the initial fire, Safeway had sent multiple trucks filled with dozens of pallets of water, energy drinks, and local stores had donated ice, breakfast and sandwiches to first responders on the front lines.

In addition, Clear Channel Media + Entertainment will hold live remotes at several Valley Safeway locations beginning this afternoon to take donations for the 100 Club of Arizona and the Red Cross The schedule live remote van stops are listed below.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the brave firefighters who lost their lives yesterday. In addition, we are deeply saddened for those who have lost their homes. It’s Safeway’s commitment to lend a helping hand during such a tragedy. We’re honored to be able to help families and communities overcome adversity and get back to normal life,” said Dan Valenzuela, President of Safeway in Arizona.

All 115 Safeway locations throughout Arizona are accepting donations for the Red Cross and the 100 Club of Arizona.

Today’s shipments are being staged in two locations, one north and one south of the main area effected by the fire. Safeway will continue to work in conjunction with local fire crews and the US Forest Service in determining donation needs.
