A capacity crowd filled Oro Valley Town Hall last night to voice concerns over the fate of the Desert Springs property east of Oracle and Tangerine Road, adjacent to Catalina State Park.
After much discussion, council unanimously voted for a continuance, with the goal of giving the applicant more time to absorb council and citizen input and make necessary compromises to the proposed Major General Plan Amendment originally brought forth in April.
One major concern with council and citizens was the increase from low to medium density housing in the environmentally-sensitive area.
The property is privately owned by California developer Sunchase Holdings. The 110-acre parcel is currently located in Pima County, but will likely be annexed by Oro Valley at a later date.
